Home Hardening

Buildings ignite during a fire storm as a result of one to three of these basic main wildfire exposures: embers (or firebrands), radiant heat, and direct flame contact. Zone Zero (0-5 ft) brings to mind landscaping and vegetation but it also extends to include the surface of the structure, decks and steps. These areas of a home are the most vulnerable to embers as they accumulate at the base of a wall in a fire storm. Once we understand how homes ignite then steps can be taken to mitigate the possibility of structural ignition. To learn more about how homes ignite click here.
