Plan Submittals
New! Effective January 1, 2023, all permit applications and plan reviews must be submitted digitally. Paper plans/applications will not be accepted.
The following is intended to guide the applicant how to apply for a fire permit or plan review:
Plan Submittal Application- Download and complete the Plan Submittal Application PDF Document.
- Submit plans and the completed application in PDF format to planreview@rossvalleyfire.org
- Include supporting documentation when applicable:
- Cut Sheets and Calculations
- Permit Applications (from Towns or County)
- Documentation of application Fees (from Towns or County)

- Fire fees will be invoiced and sent to the applicant through SQUARE. Fees will be due at time of invoice.
- The minimum permit fee is listed in our current Fee Schedule. These fees are the minimum charge for a typical application. Additional charges may apply for large projects and re-inspections, or failures to comply, which result in additional inspections
- Once the review is completed and fees collected, plans with conditions will be returned to the applicant via email.
- Approved plans and conditions of approval shall be readily available on-site for all inspections.

- Fire Alarm and Detection Systems are designed to alert the occupants of the building to the potential of a fire and the need for evacuation.
- When required by the fire code, fire alarm systems shall be required in all new and existing commerical structures greater than 2,000 square feet.
- Fire alarm systems are required to be monitored by a UL Listed Central Station.
- Fire alarms system need to be designed and installed in accordance with NFPA Standard 72 and local standards.
- Below is the link to NFPA Standard 72 and the requirements for fire alarm systems:
- Submit to RVFD Administrative Office, 777 San Anselmo Avenue, San Anselmo, Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm:

- Two sets of plans (wet-stamped and signed), two sets of cut sheets and calculations
- The minimum plan review fees are set forth in the Fee Schedule (fees include a plan submission, plan review & inspections). These fees are the minimum charge for a typical application. Additional charges may apply for large projects and re-inspections, or failures to comply, which result in additional inspections.
- Fees are due at the time of plan submittal and the accepted methods of payment include:
- Check made out to Ross Valley Fire Department
- Cash
- Major credit cards
- View current Fee Schedule
- Expected turnaround time is 10 business days, there is no over-the-counter review.
- Applicant will be notified by phone when plan review comments are ready. Completed plans can be picked-up at RVFD Administrative Office.
- 48 hour advanced notice is required for scheduling inspections. To schedule an inspection email: prevention@rossvalleyfire.org.
- All systems AC Power, need to be shut-off 24 hours in advance of inspection to allow for 24 hour battery test.
