Updated Fee Schedule Published

Ross Valley Fire Department announces changes to Fee Schedule and Fees.

San Anselmo, CA ~~ At the February 11, 2015 Fire Board meeting, the Ross Valley Fire Department Board of Directors approved an increase to the Fee Schedule and fees that are charged by Ross Valley Fire Department.

The fee schedule for the Department had not been updated nor revised since 2006.

Over the past several months, Department staff developed a Fee Study by contacting neighboring fire departments and determining the most common methods for calculating fee and permit costs.  Department staff concluded that calculating the actual cost for each available fee and permit was the most accurate method to set fee levels.  Through the study it was identified that most fees were, on average, 61% below actual cost.

The base line fees increased from $110 to $320, which is actual cost for a normal fee assessment.  The only exception to the actual cost method is the Construction Permit, which will be assessed a flat 30% of the Town’s building permit assessment.

The attached list of fees and permits was developed by utilizing the 2013 California Fire Code.  The comprehensive list provides greater detail and flexibility when applying the fees and permits.  Each fee or permit has a corresponding worksheet that details the costs related to that fee or permit.  The worksheet utilizes actual costs of providing the review, inspections, technology, vehicles, and personnel costs for the fee or permit.  There is no profit margin in the fees charged.
