Grant Funds Available to Help Organize Neighborhood Chipper Days!

In addition to roadway clearance projects, some of the National Fire Plan Grant Funds may be used to facilitate neighborhood “Chipper Day” projects to improve wildfire safety.  We need residents to help organize neighborhood “Chipper Days.”  These events are a great way to help bring residents together in support of emergency preparedness by reducing overgrown vegetation, improving access for fire engines, and improving road clearance for escape routes.  By chipping cut vegetation in place, the time and cost of disposal is greatly reduced, while the chips provide a fire resistant mulch.

For more information on organizing a “Chipper Day,” call Maria Baird at (415) 456-5652.
